Attention rowers, gymgoers, CrossFitters, Hyroxers and more – how would you like to be part of a global event run by the Olympic federation? For the first time since the Covid pandemic, the 2025 World Indoor Rowing Championships will be a fully virtual event that brings together elite athletes, amateurs, and fitness enthusiasts of all ages and abilities to compete in an indoor rowing environment in real time over the last two weekends in February.
The qualification process is currently underway, and on January 19, Community Rowing is hosting an Open Heat qualifier event for the WRICH at our facility in Greystones, Wicklow. We’re inviting motivated fitness enthusiasts of all ages and abilities to join us. You don’t need to be an experienced rower or a member of Bray Rowing Club to take part – the event is open to everyone. Participants can choose one or two individual race distances – 500m and 2000m – and/or two team relay races over the 2K and 5K distances, so there’s something for everyone. A relay team must be comprised of 4 men, 4 women, or a mixed crew of 2 men and 2 women.
This is a great opportunity to see where you rank compared to other indoor rowing athletes around the world in your age category, while aiming to qualify for the finals in February. We’ll also have 2025 WRICH merchandise prizes for the winners of each race category at our qualifying event. If you’re searching for strength training classes near me to complement your rowing and improve your power output, this event is a fantastic motivator to boost your overall training regimen.
To have a chance of qualifying for the finals in February, you must submit your time for your chosen event(s) by January 20 on the World Rowing Entry Site. Following the Open Heats, the top 150 competitors for each gender and weight category (LWT & HWT) per continental time zone will qualify for the finals – in addition to the top ten from every age category. Whether you’re a casual fitness enthusiast or a member of Bray Rowing Club, this is your chance to be part of a global competition. All competitors will receive an official World Rowing age group ranking, with medals awarded to the top 3 in all age groups.
Don’t miss out – step up your training, find the best strength training classes near me, and get race-ready.
