Get Going... Get Rowing!

Schools for Rowing

Get Going . . Get Rowing is a Rowing Ireland initiative which introduces secondary school students to the sport of rowing through indoor rowing, a growing sport in itself. The programme has been a mainstay in secondary schools across Ireland since 2014 and Greystones Community Rowing wants to bring rowing to your school in County Wicklow. Or you can come to our location at the Scouts Hall on Church road.

The classes take place during school hours whilst the students are accompanied by their PE teacher at all times. Alternatively the classes can be scheduled after school hours. We will work around your schools timetable. The programme runs for a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks in duration.

The classes are structured but fun and teach students not only how to row but also the values of teamwork, discipline and mental focus. As part of the programme students will be given the opportunity to experience one on the water rowing session at a local rowing club (springtime and summer). Participating schools are also invited to take part in at least one Get Rowing #Blitz event (Trinity College, Carlow, Hanover Quay).

The Get Going Get Rowing programme is led by Rowing Ireland in conjunction with a Local Sports partnership. So come on board and join us in this fun active programme.
